Open Working Trial Results 6th - 8th August 2010
The Open Working Trial held on 6th – 8th August near Melton Mowbray appeared to be a successful trial as we had a number of complimentary remarks from competitors. The Base was at Old Dalby Village Hall which turned out to be an excellent base and was less than 10 minutes from the Tracking and Control & Agility fields. Tracking was on well grown pasture and out of 19 entries in the UD Stake only 3 dogs did not get round the track. The weather was kind to us over the three days with only a momentary light shower on Friday. We ran the new Introductory Working Trial Stake for the first time and we had 9 entries. The judge for this stake said that the handlers and dogs worked to a very high standard. Six dogs gained a Certificate of Merit in this stake which meant they achieved 70%, or more, of the total marks. A very good result for new competitors to Working Trials; they had obviously trained well for the stake.
Freddie Welham, who came third in the UD Stake is 92 years old!!!!! Who's got excuses now?
