Karen, a native of Sheffield, was a stalwart of the Border Collie breed for many years, initially with her first husband Tony Holliday, then taking her world-renowned affix ‘Corinlea’ with her when she moved to Scotland and married Robert Dalglish.
She had a love of pure English, ISDS lines, was always willing to share her in-depth knowledge of the breed and help those new to showing and was extremely proud of her breeding. Karen judged at top level both in the UK and overseas, including Crufts. She owned one of the breed’s best known Show Champions / stud dogs, Sh Ch Viber Travelling Matt from Corinlea. Trav was Karen’s ‘heart’ dog, for many years the CC record holder, but more importantly for her, the most treasured of companions.
Karen had honesty and integrity in abundance; she was a loyal friend, generous to a fault, and possessed a huge sense of humour. She loved music, her tastes wide-ranging but her favourite band being Jamiroquai, and was something of a horse racing aficionado, enjoying many an afternoon in front of the tv. She learned to drive in middle age and immediately became quite adventurous, travelling long distances to visit friends or her beloved father in Sheffield.
Karen fought hard against the cancer that finally took her but sadly her years in remission were but few. She leaves a son and daughter and is much missed throughout the Border Collie world.
