The Border Collie world has lost a true patron in Barbara. She was passionate about our breed, that it did not lose its abilities to work, and was always willing to give advice gained over many years of owning and breeding Border Collies under the Bluealloy affix. Barbara wrote books and numerous articles about BCs including the Breed Notes column for Dog World.
Barbara was also passionate in her love of nature and the store of remedies it offers. She was a qualified animal homoeopathist - practising successfully as ‘Swannies Remedies’ - often achieving excellent results. She could be outspoken, even controversial at times, never afraid to offer her opinion in any company.
Barbara was a founding member of the Midlands Border Collie Club and always had time for club members, both new and long standing alike; she was generous with her time and knowledge which she also used to benefit the MBCC, having been the Hon. Secretary for a great number of years.
Barbara could sometimes be quite frightening with her forthright approach, but she could never be accused of being dull. Barbara was a good, true friend and confidante. She will be greatly missed at all MBCC events, committee & Breed Council meetings.
The world of dogs has lost a lady with strength of character, courage, knowledge and kindness. Barbara will be sorely missed by those whose lives she touched.
